Proper lens care doesn’t only ensure better vision, it also extends the life of your glasses. Improper cleaning can damage Even lenses, even if they have an anti-scratch hard coating. Moreover, as smart glasses containing precision electronics and advanced optical displays, your Even G2 requires special care compared to traditional eyewear. Even Realities provides a few tips on how to quickly, thoroughly, and safely clean your Even G2.
Understanding IP65 Water & Dust Resistance
Your Even G2 features an IP65 rating. This means it is highly resistant to dust and can withstand light water splashes, such as sweat during a workout or a light drizzle. However, IP65 does NOT mean the glasses are waterproof.
Strictly Prohibited Cleaning Methods
To protect the internal micro-electronics, batteries, and waveguide lenses, please completely avoid the following common habits used for traditional glasses:
No Running Water: Never wash or rinse the glasses under a faucet, shower, or running water.
No Ultrasonic Cleaners: The high-frequency vibrations and liquid immersion of ultrasonic cleaning machines will permanently destroy the internal electronic components and optical structures.
No Submersion or Steam: Never submerge the glasses in any liquid. Do not wear or bring them into saunas, steam rooms, pools, or hot springs.
Important Warranty Notice: Please be aware that liquid ingress or hardware failure resulting from washing, ultrasonic cleaning, submerging, or exposure to high-temperature steam is considered user-caused physical damage and will void your warranty.
Fast Cleaning
For everyday cleaning, use either:
Lens cleaning wipes: Gently wipe the lenses to remove dust, fingerprints, and light smudges.
A slightly damp microfiber cloth: Lightly dampen a microfiber cloth with water and gently wipe the lenses and frame. One microfiber cloth is included in the Even G2 package.
To help protect the lenses, avoid using tissues or clothing for cleaning. These materials may carry small particles of dust or dirt that can cause fine scratches when rubbed against the lenses. Over time, these scratches may affect lens clarity and cannot be removed once they occur.
Deep Cleaning
For a more thorough clean, apply a small amount of cleaning spray to a microfiber cloth, then gently wipe the lenses and frame. Avoid spraying cleaning liquid directly onto the glasses, as it may enter gaps in the frame.
